Nothing about youis kept for the archive.

You can visit the whole archive without giving anything: no account, no cookie banner, because there is no tracking cookie. We only receive what you choose to send (an email address for the letter, a message for the time capsule, a report) and anonymous visit counts.

The data controller is the publisher named in the legal notice. We follow the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the same rules apply to every visitor, wherever they live, including under Quebec's Law 25, Canada's anti-spam law and the data protection laws of Nigeria, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire.

The archive letter: your email address and your chosen language, to send you the letter once a month. You subscribe with a double confirmation (a link sent to your address) and you can unsubscribe in one click from every letter. The legal basis is your consent.

Your message for the future: the text you write (280 characters at most), the first name or pseudonym you give if any, its language and, if you wish, your country. No email address is asked. A person reads every message before it is published; you declare that you are 16 or older.

Reports and requests for correction: what you write in the form and, only if you give it, an email address to receive our decision.

Audience measurement: each page sends its address, its language and the site you came from, with no cookie and no identifier. Only daily totals are stored. To count visitors, a fingerprint made from a random salt that changes every day is kept in memory until midnight, then destroyed with the salt; neither your IP address nor your browser details are ever written. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the visit is not counted.

Your settings (paper theme, data saver, sound on or off, language) are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. When you choose a language, a small cookie named rh_lang remembers it so the site opens in that language; it contains nothing else.

Pages you have opened are kept in your browser's cache so you can read them offline. You can erase all of this at any time from your browser's settings.

No advertising, no third-party tracker, no social media buttons that follow you. Fonts are served by the archive itself. Viewers from other sites (deep zoom, 3D models) load only when you ask for them. Support payments go through an external provider: no payment data passes through Stela. We never sell or share your data.

An unconfirmed subscription is deleted after 7 days; a confirmed address is kept until you unsubscribe, and erased at once when you do. A refused message is deleted 30 days after the decision; a withdrawn message is erased after 30 days, and the reasoned decision about it is kept for 12 months to answer any appeal. The email address given with a report is erased 30 days after the report is closed. Technical logs, with masked addresses, and backups are kept for 30 days. Audience totals contain no personal data and are kept.

You can ask to access, correct or erase your data, object to its use, ask for a copy, or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us and we will answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority: the CNIL in France, the Commission d'accès à l'information in Quebec, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in Canada, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, the Commission de protection des données personnelles in Senegal, or the ARTCI in Côte d'Ivoire.
